about me

_edited.jpg

I've been lucky enough to have had several creative careers since I left college in 1989 with a degree in graphic design.  For 20 years I was an art director in children's publishing (and even wrote a book!), then I trained as a silver jeweller and opened an artist collective shop in Bristol with several talented makers.

Around 15 years ago I took up embroidery as a hobby and somehow that morphed into teaching workshops for craft centres in and around Bristol.
I couldn't find an embroidery course that I really wanted to participate in and it dawned on me that I could perhaps teach a beginners course, structured over a term, in much the same way that I had taught myself over a decade before.

Since then I have taught over 60 women around my kitchen table, where they learn not only stitches, but about colour, composition, designing original pieces, inspiration and, best of all, chatting, eating cake and forming our very own
crafty communities!
